Mitsubishi is ready for £100 million wind turbine factory in Britain
The north-east of the UK is going to be the home of a huge project involving wind energy. Japan´s Mitsubishi is planning on investing £100 million to make a huge wind energy plant. The plans of the massive wind energy company is going to create hundreds of jobs in the environmental technology sector and this would give the UK a huge boost towards fulfilling their goals for the EU renewable energy levels.
Another company coming from Spain, the FCC, have reported to be planning to spend another £100m for more wind turbines to be built on several recycling plants all over Britain. Lord Mandelson stated that the large investments to be made by Mitsubishi and several other companies would help a great deal to make Britain one of the leading countries in the sector. The chief executive of Mitsubishi, Akio Fukui, said that experst are already examining different locations within the north-east of Britain.
The British Wind Energy Association said that the investments that are planned for the future are proof that other countries and their companies are taking Britain and it´s renewable energy programmes seriously. Maria McCaffery, the Chief executive of the BWEA said the following: "This tremendous commitment from Mitsubishi and the UK government follows last week's major announcement of the start of the new Clipper Windpower factory in Newcastle upon Tyne, which will be home to the largest wind turbine blade in the world. This all signals the rebirth of manufacturing in the UK, with an estimated 70,000 green-collar jobs to be created on the back of over £100bn of private sector investment."
Greenpeace registered the investment plans of Mitsubishi and said that the plans were very good especially because Mitsubishi is known to be a big supporter of atomic energy.Joss Garman, energy campaigner for Greenpeace UK, said: "If the market wanted a clear signal on which way the UK energy sector is moving, the manufacturer of the world's biggest nuclear reactors has just sent it – and the answer is wind."
