The Biggest Wind Farm is Up and Running
Finally the largest wind farm in the world has started operating. The Roscoe Wind Complex has 627 huge wind turbines standing spread out across 100,000 acres of farmland in West Texas. The wind park began construction in 2007 and reaches through four counties in the area of Roscoe creating a huge amount of 781.5 megawatts the German company E.ON Climate and Renewables North America said. Looking at his finished work the chief development officer Patrick Woodson said, "In three years to be able to take this project from cotton fields to the biggest wind farm in the world is something we're very proud of."
Whoever wants to take a look at the wind farm can see it 220 miles west of Dallas. South of the wind farm there is the land where the bilionaire T. Boone Pickens first wanted to buil an even larger wind farm than the Roscoe Wind Complex, but he abandoned the idea in July.
Although the world is suffering the consequences of the financial crisis, the wind and solar industries are both still growing fast and are still one of the fastest growing industries there are. With this immense wind energy complex Texas has made itself quite a name and has become the main state of wind energy. With this new wind farm Texas is showing itself as a good example and is leading the way into a greener future.
