TOPIC 'Renewable Energy' on Oct 19, 2009 (CEST) 92% of America wants solar energy! The American people seem to almost completely have the same opinion when it comes to the development of solar energy. According to a study, 92% of the Americans think that the development in America in the solar energy branch is very important. On the solar subject both Republicans and Democrats seem to share the opinion that solar energy is important because the study shows the opinion is shared by Republicans to 89%, by Democrats to 94% and Independants to 93%. One of the larger companies in the solar energy industry, the German company Shott Solar ordered a the 2009 Schott Solar Barometer which was conducted by the independant Kelton Research. The study that was commissioned was conducted from August 31. to September 8.The research showed that 77% of the people who took part believe that the federal government should make the development of solar energy to the top priority in the country. Almost 50% considered using solar energy modules for their own home or business. The study also shows though that although 77% of the questioned hope to use solar energy in the next 5 years, only 3% actually already use solar energy. In the study the people questioned were also asked which energy source they would fund if they could choose. 43% of the questioned said solar energy, 17% decided wind energy would be the best, 12% chose natural gas and 10% settled with nuclear energy. The questioned people were also asked to how much they actually knew about solar energy and only 12% could say that they were informed whereas 74% said they wish they knew more about the solar energy branch.
