Industry Group says EU´s plan is going down

Yahoo! My Web The EU has stated that there is a new plan that is going to be released which supposed to cut the carbon emissions and it includes a Smart Cities Initiatives to promote energy efficiency measures.

The new plan to reduce the carbon emissions and to move solar energy technology forwards is concentrating too much on the development and research of new technologies and not enough on the deployment of the already existing solar technology said the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA). The EPIA also said that the proposal will lead to more money going into the industries growth and not enough into the consumers to buy the products.

The proposal of the European Commission calls for an additional €50 billion to be invested in the research and development of renewable energy technologies for a time period of 10 years. The technologies which will mainly be funded are nuclear, wind, solar, carbon storage and capture. In the EU´s plan the solar energy technology is to be supported strongly whether it is photovoltaic or solarthermal, both are important for the reduction of carbon emission. If €16 billion would be invested into the research of solar energy then 15 percent of the European electricity could soon be green.

For the development of photovoltaic technology the EU wants a research programme to be started with five pilot solar plants and projects for centralized and distributed solar generation. The solar thermal power development is planned to take place in form of 10 demonstrational power plants which will help research and produce green energy for the area.

Another large part of the new plan of the EU is to make cities more energy efficient. The project Smart Cities Initiative will involve 30 cities which each will try and reduce carbon emissions simply by changing every day life. Using energy in buildings, transport, industry etc. Can help to save money and reduce carbon emissions by simply rethinking the way we use energy.
