Obama is urging energy savings in federal buildings

Yahoo! My Web President Obama stated that if the people in America were to become more ecological then the government itself would have to lead the way with good example. This is why Obama has copied the idea of former Deputy Mayor of L.A. Nancy Sutley to reduce the energy usage and raise recycling in all government buildings.

In Detail President Obama ordered all federal agencies to decrease the vehicles fuel use by 30% by 2020, an increase in recycling of 50% by 2015 and to make the federal buildings as energy efficient as possible. The agencies are also instructed within the order of the President to have reduced the heat-trapping gases responsible for global warming within 90 days.

The decision to move reduce energy usage and become a good example when it comes to saving energy is very important for the federal government due to the fact that the government is the largest energy user in the United States. With over 600,000 vehicles, 500,000 buildings and 7.8 million civilian workers there is most probably a lot of energy saving that can be done.

If the federal government plays its role as a good example well then this should lead to changes throughout the economy making people realize that saving energy is effective, not only for the environment but also for the people who live in it.
