Pasadena is a big fan of the „BigBelly Solar Compactor„

Yahoo! My Web The city of Pasadena is receiving more trash cans that use solar energy. The fascinating solar energy can even be used in combination with trash cans to compress the mass of trash that is thrown into the trash can from 200 gallons into 70 gallons.

The useful trash cans have already been requested by the city council in 2007 where 12 of the solar bins were placed on street corners around Pasadena. By doing so the city is joining Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Boston and Philadelphia in using the BigBelly Solar Compactors.

The city council has confirmed that they have approved to 40 more BigBelly Solar Compactors to be bought and built up around Pasadena. The modern trash cans are available at a price of $146,550 which Gabriel Silva, the environmental programs manager of Pasadena sees as a good investment due to the fact that the BigBelly Solar Compactors will save up to $61,400 ever year due to the reduced fuel and labor.
