$555 Billion Solar Project for Africa

Yahoo! My Web A group of about 20 large companies in Germany are planning to build a solar power project in Africa. Companies like Siemens, Deutsche Bank and RWE are part of the huge 400 billion Euro ($1=.7203 Euro) project that is to change the African plains into an economic energy source.

In an interview with the Sueddeutsche Zeitung Torsten Jeworek said that the project is there to bring economic energy from Africa to German households. On the 13th of July the members of the project group will gather in Munich to form the group officially.

Torsten Jeworek was not able to give detailed information on the members of this group but mentioned that the group would include Siemens, the Club of Rome, Deutsche Bank, RWE and the German Economy Ministry.

"We want to start an initiative that would present concrete plans in two to three years time," Jeworek said.
