Gigantic Solar Energy Project being developed in India

Yahoo! My Web Together with Greenpeace the Indian Government has been working on plans concerning a national goal of 20 Gigawatts of solar energy capacity to be reached by 2020.

This new renewable energy plan is a good example for the developing countries that are in some ways working more determined toward renewable energy targets than other industrial countries. While the United States and the EU are moving slowly toward there national goals they are still delaying financial support for countries such as India that are willing to use clean energy if there is enough support.

Greenpeace is now discussing the issue with finance ministers of EU to show how pressing the subject is. Greenpeace is requesting 110€ billion every year to assist developing countries in taking a step toward green energy.

The solar project in India would push the country forward making it an important country working against climate change. The solar project would also play an important role when it comes to the development plans for the Indian economy.

Siddharth Pathak, a climate and energy campaigner for Greenpeace India, from the UN climate talks in Bonn said that the solar energy plan would be the most ambitious solar project any country has laid so far, but without international support it would be impossible. If the industrialised world would support Indias plans with solid proposals on technology and finance then ambitous plans would no longer be as hard to succeed in as they are at the moment.

A development in the solar energy plans of India are already taking place. The German Financial Times reported that EU government experts have advised the finance ministers of the EU to finance the developments anually with at least 100€ billion.
