Opportunities For Investors In Climate Change Solutions
It’s time to start looking at climate change for the opportunity it is as well as the problem. Within the problem lies a solution that may be an answer to more than one question. Climate change needs answers; who will provide the way out? Who will provide the technologies that will make a difference in climate change issues?
According to a recent article in an Australia business paper, those investing in the technologies and methodologies utilized to provide answers to some of the crucial climate change questions will have huge profits in store. Anyone that has money to invest should know that renewable energy technologies are the places to spend their capital.
Investment in sustainable technology are those categories that include infrastructure, model plans that cut carbon emissions and greenhouse gases, conserving natural resources, implementing efficiency practices, and striving to reverse environmental damage and reduce pollution at all levels. These types of companies and investments are in stocks that are called “cleantech.” Cleantech stocks blend a diverse mix of technologies, such as those in renewable energy, water purification, biofuels, energy efficiency, carbon reduction, alternative fuel and engine technologies, clean coal options, and any type of new materials found that can be useful toward this goal.
Governments across the globe are setting renewable energy goals and mandatory policies that will affect how businesses operate. Executive Director James Their of the Australian Ethical Investment (AEI) believes there is tremendous potential in helping to fund these ventures.
When choosing to invest in Australian cleantech companies, investors will need to think “long term” because many of the businesses are small and only now just developing. When better to get in on the “ground floor,” as they say? James Their cites Geodynamics Limited as a classic case. It has proven geothermal technology but has not commercialized it yet. Ceramic Fuel Cells Limited has a comparable story providing electricity. AEI also offers investment opportunities with such global giants as Germany’s SolarWorld, China’s Suntech, Spain’s Gamesa, Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems, and the United States’ geothermal company, Ormat.
The opportunities for investing in renewable energy technologies are ripe at the present time. Those new technologies represent the best hopes for a cleaner environment and the best potential for the most profits in a slumping economy.
